On April 30, some of our English courses had the honor to be guests at the Humboldt-University in Berlin.

Leigh Raiford, Professor of African American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, gave a lecture on the topic “Photography and the Making and Unmaking of Black Citizenship”. Raiford gave us deep insight into the social difficulties the African American community has had to face until today. By presenting interesting as well as disturbing photography and images of brutality against Black people, Raiford opened our eyes to be more aware of racism and biases.
